Boomerang manager is ‘Rising Star’ of recycling

Summit Systems' pilot recycling line, Boomerang Plastics, was honoured at the UK Packaging Awards last week. General Manager, Dan Jordan, won the "Rising Star" Award for his work with the venture which is recycling food contaminated plastics.

The quality granulate which results from Boomerang's processes is then sold to plastics processors in the UK for moulding into new products.

Machinery typical of the whole system used at Boomerang Plastics is available to customers wishing to recycle their own plastics waste. Summit Systems report a stream of visitors from both the plastics processing and recycling industries that are benefiting from seeing the machinery actually working in a production environment, before they buy.

Commenting on his award, Dan Jordan said: "I am so pleased with this award from the UK Packaging Industry. It is my passion to enable the recycling of more and more plastic packaging within the UK. This saves the huge transport costs of shipping materials for recycling abroad and also makes the recycled material available to processors in the UK.”

Summit Systems explain that whilst recycling materials, Boomerang Plastics is also used as a showcase for the machinery that Summit Recycling Machinery sells. Potential customers are able to see machines working as part of a system and gain confidence that the equipment they are purchasing is exactly right for their particular application.
