Plastics recycler named as an ‘inspirational’ British company

UK-based recycler, ECO Plastics, has been highlighted by the London Stock Exchange as one of the country’s most dynamic and fastest-growing businesses, based on a landmark report celebrating the UK’s leading SMEs.

The report, ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’, was launched on Friday at a special event at the LSE’s headquarters in the City of London.

Jonathan Short, Deputy Chairman of ECO Plastics, commented: “We are delighted that ECO Plastics’ progress over the last few years has been recognised by the London Stock Exchange. This acknowledgement reflects the company’s enduring hard work in creating the largest and most sophisticated plastics recycling plant in the world.

“It is also testament to how far the domestic industry has come over the last decade. From a standing start, the UK is now building a twenty-first century recycling infrastructure that is right up there with the most advanced in the world.

“We aspire to be a role model for the UK’s plastics recycling sector. ECO Plastics is exactly the model of business that the Government’s waste policy should be encouraging, to ensure that the value of our waste is kept here in our shores, and not simply shipped off abroad.”

The accolade follows a string of nominations and victories for the company. These include a shortlisting for the prestigious Growing Business Awards in October, wins at the National Recycling Awards and Business Green Leaders’ Awards and Jonathan Short’s appointment as an Industry Champion for the BIS ‘Make it in Great Britain’ campaign.
