'Recycling Cycle' to keep turning

by

Buxton Mineral Water has announced today (June 5), World Environment Day, that it is expanding its ‘Recycling Cycle’ scheme in Buxton.

The new scheme now includes an education programme in local schools and an extension to its poster competition.

The campaign, in partnership with Recoup, a national organisation promoting recycling, aims to change behaviour towards recycling.

The scheme is currently a pilot and if successful, will be rolled out in other communities across the UK to promote recycling. ‘Recycling Cycle’ currently encompasses six Buxton schools.

The education programme in schools uses practical activities to demonstrate the importance of recycling to pupils. It shows what happens to a plastic bottle after it has been put in a recycling bin and how bottles can be re-used many times.

Siån Chapman, Corporate Communications Manager at Nestlé Waters said: “We are delighted to be expanding this pilot project in Buxton and to be working with our local community to support our shared desire to live and act sustainably.”

Luke Cox, Project Manager at Recoup said: “We are excited about continuing to work with Nestlé Waters on such a worthwhile and effective scheme.”

Buxton and Recoup’s scheme also features a poster competition in which pupils design a poster encouraging recycling. The winning design will be used throughout the community to promote recycling and educate the public.

“We are looking forward to receiving the entries for the poster competition which really communicate our recycling in schools and to residents across Buxton,” Cox said.
