The keynote speaker for next year’s PVC conference in Brighton has been revealed as a specialist in the cradle-to-cradle sustainability concept.

Professor Dr. Michael Braungart will present ‘Beyond Sustainability – Cradle to Cradle as an Innovation Engine for the Industry’, using his experience of undertaking several projects with major PVC processors using the concept to review and develop their business models.

Professor Braungart studied Chemistry and Process Engineering in Konstanz and Darmstadt (Germany). In the 1980s, he set up the chemistry department of Greenpeace and received his doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Hannover in 1985.

He is also founder of the Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency (EPEA), established in 1987, and holds the Academic Cradle to Cradle Chair for Innovation and Quality at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). He is also Professor at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg.

Professor Braungart will head up a full and varied programme of original and international papers at next year’s PVC conference, which takes place from 25-27 April 2017 at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel and Conference Centre.
