Extrusion blow moulding for packaging demonstrated in the US

Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH says it is focusing on sustainable production solutions for the packaging market as manufacturers increasingly look for ways of improving their productivity.

Speaking at NPE, Andreas Lichtenauer, CEO, said that where automotive is and remains a core market for the company, it was able to offer something “unique” to packaging producers and hoped to grow market share.

“We are one of the biggest extrusion blow moulding companies in the world,” said Lichtenauer.”We believe we have a very strong dominance in the market because we only focus on extrusion blow moulding technology.”

With 335 square meters of exhibition space in the West Hall Booth W1551, the Kautex Maschinenbau stand is much bigger than at NPE 2012. For the first time since 2006, the company is showing one of its machines in action, with a KBB60D machine with a 2 x 12 head configuration demonstrating the production of 24 ml bottles for the hotel industry.

The all-electric KBB machines have short cycle times and low energy costs, combining resource saving with high performance. Another benefit of this new range, explained Kautex, is that they come with quick change systems for fast product changeovers and reduced downtime. These electric machines also meet all the latest hygiene requirements for cosmetic and food products.

Lichtenauer said that he saw “huge potential” for the company’s technology in the consumer packaging markets, in the US and developing nations
