by

The 2016 European city of Science, Manchester, will host the third in a successful series of rubber-themed seminars in May.

Organised by Manchester Polymer Group and the Rubber in Engineering Group, the one-day event on May 16th entitled ‘Rubber – a Resilient Future’ is the third seminar of its type and is being held to celebrate the recognition of the city’s unique scientific heritage and contribution to scientific discovery, innovation and industry.

This year the focus will be ‘Elastomers in Extreme Environments’, where new and emerging developments that allow elastomers to operate under extreme conditions of pressure, temperature or chemical exposure, will be discussed.

In keeping with the 2016 City of Science theme, there will also be a continuing spotlight on new innovations and solutions from companies located in Greater Manchester and the North West.

The event will follow the format of previous MPG rubber seminars, with an all-day programme based on a mix of papers, tabletop displays and networking opportunities.

The organisers have issued a call for papers. Presenters will receive free registration with a maximum 30-minute slot including time for questions and answers.

The event will be held at Lancashire Country Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester.
