A glossy display from Wittmann Battenfeld at Interplas

by

At Interplas 2014 Wittmann Battenfeld UK will show visitors the latest in injection moulding technology as well as the company’s latest in automation and peripheral equipment.

A Wittmann Battenfeld EcoPower all-electric machine will be on display manufacturing a high gloss product for the white goods sector in order to demonstrate energy-efficiency, optimal user-friendliness, cleanness and high precision.

“We have just appointed our tenth service engineer to our UK operation and we are looking forward to re-emphasising our customer service offering to our show visitors and customers, old and new,” commented Barry Hill, Wittmann UK Managing Director.

In addition, the company’s EcoPower 110/350 SE model with insider cell will be put through its paces at the show. A front panel for a coffee machine will be manufactured, using a single-cavity mold supplied by Wittner, Austria. This is a high-gloss visible part made of PC/ABS. The parts are produced by using the company’s patented variothermic process, ‘Variomould’ and the mould technology, ‘BFMOLD’. In this technology, the entire space below the mould cavity is used for heating and cooling. This enables extremely even and, above all, quick cooling of the mould area, says the company.

The technique is successful in reducing cycle times and preventing warpage and to reduce tension. Sink marks and joint lines can be prevented, especially with components needing a high aesthetic finish or high-gloss surface. The coffee machine parts will be removed and placed on a conveyor band by a Wittmann robot W823.

Also key to increased UK sales this year, according to Hill, has been the ease of machine process control, achieved in great part through the Unilog B6P machine controller which comes as standard across the entire range of Wittmann Battenfeld moulding machines.

Wittmann Battenfeld UK will also use Interplas 2014 to present a broad range of robots and peripheral equipment. Chief among these will be the newly launched W833 pro robot: Light-weighting of the robot axes combined with a new Wittmann linear drive concept makes the Wittmann pro robot extremely dynamic and therefore requiring very low energy for operation.

The new robot will be shown with Wittmann’s new R8.3 robot control system –redesigned for easy, iconic and intuitive programming.
