Decorate your ’99 with colour-change plastic
Chameleon thermochromic and photochromic masterbatch from UK-based LCR Hallcrest is a temperature sensitive masterbatch which changes colour as its temperature changes or when it is exposed to UV light.
The masterbatch can be formulated to change with the heat from hands, mouths, or on contact with something cold, for example iced drinks or chilled foods. When added to standard plastics for injection moulding and extrusion it creates stunning colour change effects.
“Whether you want your product just to stand out competitively or whether it is to communicate or act as a warning device the list of applications for its use is limitless,” commented LCR’s Gilly Beaumont.
The masterbatch, which is said to be ideal for adding to applications such as spoons, drink stirrers, ice cream spoons, plates and bowls, straws, bottles and beakers, toys and packaging to name but a few, is also suitable for safety warning devices, on/in pack promotions and collectible promotions.
It is suitable for use with polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, ABS and PVC, and can be dosed at between three to 10 percent, according to the product thickness and the colour intensity required.
Activation temperatures range from zero to 65°C with a variety of many colours, from translucent to colour, or colour-to-colour, such as green-to-yellow, purple-to-pink etc.
