TransXL is ‘model student’ for Wolverhampton college

During Interplas machinery trader, TransXL, donated one of its detailed acrylic models of the extrusion process to the Polymer Training & Innovation Centre (PTIC) in order to help students understand the technology.

Graham Pickwell, Technical Consultant at the PTIC, which is a division of Wolverhampton College, expressed an interest in a model so that he could utilise it as a training aid for his students. 

“This model will be a valuable source which will enable me to illustrate the characteristics of the extrusion process and highlighting the flow path of the material as it goes through the various transition stages,” commented Pickwell.

The model was especially designed and commissioned by TransXL’s Managing Director,  Jon Napper, to celebrate the company’s 40th year of trading and one is being given away with every sheet line bought this year.

The model comprises of an extruder, die head, three-roll stack, cooling conveyer, haul off and two station winder, all made from acrylic.

“I am now working on version two, complete with a co-extruder,” explained Napper.
