Upcoming event to promote international importance of tooling industry

An event designed to promote the importance of the tooling and plastics industries in Europe is being held later this month.

The 10th edition of ‘Moulds Event’, a bi-annual conference, open house and networking event will take place from 24th-30th September in Portugal, and will promote an open discussion about the importance of this strategic industry internationally.

Portugal’s own tooling industry has grown more than 80 percent in the last 6 years, exporting to more than 80 countries. The event will spotlight the ways in which the country’s tooling industry is actively investing on the technological modernisation of its companies, accelerating the skills of their Human Resources (increasing the participation in R&D projects), as well as introducing advanced technologies, methodologies and processes to answer market needs across industries including automotive, medical devices, electronics and aerospace.

Earlier this year, the Portuguese Government recognised the importance of this industrial community for moulds and plastics, approving its strategic plan and investments for the period 2016-2020. These focus on zero defect manufacturing and Industry 4.0, which will be the main topics for discussion during the 2016 Moulds Event.

The event is jointly organised by POOL-NET (the Portuguese Tooling and Plastics Network), CEFAMOL (the Portuguese Association for Mouldmaking Industry) and CENTIMFE (the Portuguese Technological Centre for Mouldmaking, Special Tools and Plastics Industries).

The last edition of Moulds Event, in 2014, attracted more than 800 participants from 13 countries.
