New 1.5-litre bottle is the 'UK's first'

A 1.5-litre bottle, which is said to be the first of its kind in the UK, has entered the convenience market.

Nampak Plastics, as part of a joint project with Muller Wiseman Dairies, has launched a new version of its Infini bottle.

The new 1.5-litre took six months to develop and offers consumers a new choice between a 2 pint and 2 litre bottle of milk.

This comes after Nampak’s Infini bottle claimed a global WorldStar award.

As it follows Nampak’s Infini design principles, it is said to be more lightweight – weighing the same as a standard 1-litre bottle. Infini is also reportedly better for the environment than a standard bottle because it contains 15 percent recycled high-density polyethylene (rHDPE) and is 100% recyclable.

Eric Collins, Managing Director of Nampak Plastics, said: “Infini has been responsible for a paradigm shift in milk packaging over the past couple of years, making it lighter and more environmentally friendly, but without compromising on its strength.

“The 1.5-litre bottle is the newest addition to the Infini range, to go alongside all the other imperial and metric sizes. It’s also the latest in the long line of exciting developments for Infini and there are many more to come.”

A spokesperson from Muller Wiseman Dairies added: “Whilst this new pack format in Müller Wiseman Dairies black and white brand is available on a limited basis, early feedback has been encouraging.

“Müller Wiseman Dairies has a good track record in developing new fresh milk products and packaging variants and we are pleased to be able to bring this new pack format to market.”
