Nampak beats stiff competition at Dupont awards

by

Nampak Plastics has triumphed at the international DuPont Awards, winning silver in the Packaging Innovation category for its multi-award-winning Infini bottle.

Previous winners of the award include global giants Heinz, Coca-Cola and Unilever, this year however the Infini bottle fought off stiff global competition from nearly 200 entries.

On the market since 2012, Infini is the world’s lightest four-pint milk bottle, containing 20 percent less material than a standard bottle and saving the UK milk packaging industry 34,000 tonnes of plastic resin and 16,000 tonnes of carbon per year.

“Nampak Plastics is delighted to be internationally recognised by the DuPont Awards,” commented Eric Collins, Managing Director of Nampak Plastics.

“We’re extremely proud of the efforts we take to ensure Nampak continues to make technological advancements, while also maintaining our responsibility to improve responsible packaging,” he added.

“We are also currently exploring how we collaborate with new partners so that the Infini design can benefit customers in new markets and geographies outside of dairy.”

More than half a billion Infini bottles have been sold in the UK and will be manufactured under license for Australian and New Zealand markets in 2014.

"The DuPont Packaging Awards program recognises and honours packaging excellence around the globe,” said Yasmin Siddiqi, DuPont Packaging Awards Programme Leader.

“This year’s honourees demonstrate exceptional creativity in technological advancement, responsible packaging and enhanced user experience,” she added. “These breakthroughs are revolutionising the role of packaging and will be a catalyst for inspiring future innovations.”
