Pantone unveils the colour to be seen in for 2013

Pantone LLC, an X-Rite company and provider of professional colour standards for the design industries, has announced Pantone 17-5641 Emerald as the colour of the year for 2013.

For more than a decade, Pantone’s ‘Colour of the Year’ has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.

Pantone states the Emerald green was chosen as the colour of the year as it conveys growth, renewal, prosperity and regeneration.

“The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other colour in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute. “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

Pantone 17-5641 Emerald can be cross-referenced to all other Pantone Libraries including Pantone Plus for graphic design.
