Abbey Masterbatch invests over £500,000 in new production facility

Ashton under Lyne-based masterbatch producer, Abbey Masterbatch Ltd, has invested over £500,000 in a new production and warehouse facility, as well as additional plant capacity for black, white and additive masterbatch production.

Overall plant capacity will increase by over 30 percent following the installation of an additional twin screw extruder for white and additive masterbatch production, plus a further line to increase its production capacity for black masterbatch.

An additional twin screw extruder is being ordered which will be used to increase the production capacity of its range of speciality engineering polymer-based masterbatch.

The new warehouse facility will allow a much higher level of finished goods stock to be held which the company says will enable it to offer a “much faster and more flexible” service to customers.

There has also been further investment in extending the current office space by over 50 percent, which is being followed by a further phase two expansion.

Abbey Masterbatch says it is now seeking to increase new key management positions to take advantage of this substantial investment programme, which has been fully funded by the company from its own resources.

Michael Shirt, company Owner and Managing Director, said the investment “reflects the confidence the company has in expanding its current sales in both UK and export markets.”
