Afghan boy who wore a plastic bag as football shirt gets real deal from idol

A five-year-old old Afghan boy who became an Internet sensation after he was photographed wearing a plastic carrier bag as a football shirt has received the real thing from his sporting idol.

Murtaza Ahmadi fashioned a shirt from a blue and white striped carrier bag in the national team colours of Argentina, home to his favourite sports star, Lionel Messi.

The photograph, posted on social media outlet, Twitter, went viral, with the image being shared around the world. 

The boy was traced, with help from children's charity, UNICEF, who delivered a signed jersey and football from Messi.
