A Hampshire-based moulder and toolmaker has said that a raft of new clients, substantial increase in sales and increases in demand has resulted in a "year of opportunity" for the company.

Amey Plastics, based in Petersfield, says that an influx of new business from the marine sector producing a variety of marine sector producing a variety of products, as well as the success of a sideline project selling children’s lunchboxes, has resulted in 2014 being one of the most exciting years in its 30-year history.

“We have felt a much needed optimism and desire to push forward in the manufacturing and engineering industry this year,” commented Phil Scott, Sales Director at Amey Plastics.

“Our lunchboxes started out as a little project outside our core business, selling to parents who wanted them for children to take to school but when promotional merchandise companies started making enquiries, we joined the BPMA and there has been a substantial increase in sales.”

The company says that its coastal location has been a factor in attracting new business from the marine sector, with the products produced ranging from nab shackles and winch parts, to 16W radiant interior lights and casings for torches.

“Being on the south coast we’ve always attracted business from the marine companies, but this year there has seen an increase in demand for designing and creating new products for this sector,” Scott continued, adding that the company’s positive achievements this year serve as proof that engineering and manufacturing is still thriving in the region.
