Amtek Plastics cites efficiency and reshoring as catalysts to growth

Devon-based injection moulder, Amtek Plastics, has put its 44 percent growth in the last 12 months down to reshoring, increasing efficiencies and passion for its products and people.

The company, which has recently been presented with a certificate of achievement as the runners up for the Business Excellence Growth Awards in Devon, has created an additional 11 jobs across the business to deal with the increase in production.

“We have solid foundation which we have built up over many years, and we are entering a dedicated period of sustainable growth by partnering with the right type of UK companies who are looking for the quality and service that only a UK Manufacturing company can provide,” Mark Amphlett, Sales and Marketing Manager at Amtek, told BP&R.

“Reshoring is increasing on a daily basis, and UK manufacturing is becoming more important to both manufacturers and the consumers. As a business, we need to be working with the right companies to achieve the goals that I have set out in our 10 year plan for profitable business growth – working in partnership with both prospects and clients is a vital part of this process.”

As a company Amtek Plastics offers a complete solution for high volume plastic injection moulding, including product concept design, injection moulding, tooling and manufacturing, assembly and packaging.

It has obtained its ISO 9001:2008 accreditation and now operates a night shift so that the factory is running 24 hours a day. It has also just secured more warehousing, which triples the company’s floor space and will allow it to maintain a dedicated area for assembly, second operations and packaging.

“By increasing efficiencies, we are looking to become more profitable which is essential so that we can re-invest in new machines, additional skilled staff and larger premises to support our plans for growth,” Amphlett continued. “Standing still is not an option for us as we have such drive and passion to be a true market leader within our industry. We are constantly striving to add new systems to help the clients experience of dealing with a forward thinking, passionate company such as Amtek Plastics.”

The company says with a plan in place to exceed customer expectation through the financial year of 2015/6, further growth is “certainly on the cards” for the future.
