Andel Plastics confirms 2015 is “most exciting year” in company’s history

Birmingham-based injection moulder and toolmaker, Andel Plastics, says 2015 is the “most exciting year” in the company’s history.

The firm, which is celebrating 40 years in business, marks this year as its best thanks to the implementation of a cleanroom, a number investment projects coming to fruition as well as recruiting additional staff. 

“The number of employees has risen and new and old employees have really risen to the challenge of the increase in production and range of products, even helping to put on night shifts when production pressures have necessitated it,” explained Helen Pitt, Andel’s Owner.

Pitt took over the ownership of Andel at the beginning of 2015 with her business partner, Graham Robinson. Prior to this, she worked for the firm for over 20 years, during which time it was owned by her parents, who founded it in 1975.  

“At the end of this first buyout year, the investment is starting to pay off with record sales and profitability,” said Pitt, who puts the success down to its range of products and services, as well as a focus on quality and precision.

Earlier this year, the company said it was “busier than ever”, with the month of March marking the highest production figures the company had seen in several years.

The firm officially marked its milestone year with an open day, which was attended by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, who toured the factory and met staff, customers and suppliers.

“It was such a pleasure to have the Lord Mayor join us and help to recognise the achievements of the business,” Pitt said.

Finally, Pitt said the whole firm had been buoyed by a string of industry awards recently. Andel was awarded ‘Company of the Year’ by an industry publication, followed by a ‘Visionary Excellence’ award for its succession planning implementation and lastly winning ‘Best Business Initiative’ for 2015 at the Plastics Industry Awards.

Pitt said the recognition from the awards was a “real moment of pride and motivation for everyone” and was the “best thing” to honour her parents and all the work they put in over the 40 years. “Graham and I were given a great vehicle to take over and drive, I hope I have done them proud,” she concluded.
