Award winning plastic packaging to be further developed with M&S

A new type of reusable transit packaging for the food and retail sectors will be developed with Marks & Spencer, following a recent award win.

The Re-Fresh Box, manufactured by UK-based PPS East, won the top accolade at the recent Packaging Innovations show as a product that addressed both environmental and sustainability issues.

The plastic lidded box manufactured from food grade, high-impact copolymer polypropylene, is said to be the first reusable container of its kind that is both leak proof, stackable and produced in multiple size options.

The boxes are designed for packaging fresh food such as meat, fish and poultry and can be reused within the supply chain over a 10-year cycle, reducing the costs and carbon emissions involved with single-use packaging.

“We are so pleased that the judges recognised that Re-Fresh is a great step forward for addressing issues in packaging and we look forward to working with the team at M&S and getting the message out further about the great benefits Re-Fresh can bring to the industry,” commented Joanne Moss, Managing Director at PPS East.
