Further expansion for Stäubli in Telford

Stäubli UK has announced it is moving to larger premises as a result of continued market growth and the associated increase in its workforce.

The mechatronics solutions provider, which comprises of three divisions: connectors, robotics and textiles, will remain in Telford, its UK base for the last 25 years, though its new premises will see 50 percent more space and the opportunity for further growth.

Stäubli says the move will enable it to present and display its range of products in an “interactive showroom environment” as well as providing improved meeting and conference facilities.

For the first time in the UK, Stäubli Connectors Division says it will be able to display its full range of products in a dedicated exhibition area providing customers with a ‘hands on’ evaluation opportunity. For example, plastic moulding companies will be able to view the latest quick mould change and clamping systems as well as the mould connectors that can add significantly to their competitiveness; electronics companies can view the latest innovative connectors for liquid cooling systems that are capable of dispersing the higher temperatures now being produced by high power electronics in data centres and automotive customers can review the latest engine test bed connections and rapid tool changing solutions.

Robotics customers will reportedly be able to use dedicated demonstration cells, providing them with the opportunity to evaluate and adapt realistic simulations of any planned automation and develop the optimum cycle times for Stäubli’s high performance robots. Typical robot installations can be mirrored in the cells, demonstrating to customers how these multi axis, highly flexible robots can be used in a wide spread of applications from automotive to specialist pharmaceutical and drug discovery to plastics and food.

Sustainability is important in all new commercial developments and Stäubli says protecting the environment has been a major consideration in the plans for this new facility. Photovoltaic solar panels are being installed on site and the office accommodation, meeting rooms and showroom areas have all been designed to allow for the increasing requirements for in-house product demonstrations, training and seminars.

The company says Telford, a wise choice of location 25 years ago, has proved to be an ideal location for Stäubli; logistically central as a base for its customer service and support network and an excellent business environment. The company says it has benefitted from being able to call on the wide range of skills and experience that the local workforce provides and says its commitment to Telford is confirmed again by this latest move.
