Industry recognition for Superior apprentices

Superior, a Dorset-based manufacturer of precision rubber O rings, seals and special mouldings, has had its apprenticeship scheme formally recognised and approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineering in London.

Superior’s Apprenticeship Scheme offers young people from the age of 16 an opportunity to learn about engineering and manufacturing and now has the backing of the Institute.

Three different qualifications have been approved within the Superior scheme: NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering; NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance and NVQ Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technical Support.

Jim O’Neil, Superior’s Training Manager, said: “We are delighted to have had our Apprentice training approved by such a prestigious engineering organisation. We’ve worked hard to produce a scheme that gives young people a really decent and traditional grounding in Engineering Technology and it is very satisfying to have the scheme endorsed like this. We hope that it will encourage our present, hardworking apprentices and help to encourage future apprentices to join us.”

The IMechE approval recognises that Superior delivers the Engineering Council UK-SPEC requirements. This accreditation enables company apprentices studying towards a level 3 or above qualification in engineering to register as an Engineering Technician and is qualified to apply for full IMechE membership.
