Injection moulder uses legal register to stay compliant and safe

Precision injection moulding firm, Rosti UK Ltd, says it is using new legal registers to improve compliance when dealing with stringent safety and environmental legislation.

Produced by online legal specialists, Cedrec, Rosti says the registers are being utilised in reference to achieving accreditation to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001COSHH, as well as managing compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) as well as obligations under the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).

“We have a responsibility for ensuring everyone’s safety while they are on site, so it’s paramount to be fully conversant and compliant with all the necessary legal standards and requirements,” explained Caroline Callaghan, Quality Engineer at Rosti.

The registers, which are updated three times a year, are said to provide an accessible, definitive source for the requisite legislation covering Rosti UK Ltd’s operations. This spans employer liability and incident and accident reporting through to more niche legal requirements governing lifting, working at height and the use and storage of hazardous substances among other matters.

They also detail the firm’s environmental responsibilities covering energy usage, air pollution, waste disposal and management, noise control, wastewater, contaminated land and wildlife protection.

According to Cedrec, using the subscription services also allows those with legal and compliance responsibility to be better aware of amendments or changes to legislation - and the impact that these will have on a business’ activities - in a way that is clear and unambiguous.

“Having comprehensive, easy to understand information is enabling us to stay abreast of changes to even the smallest piece of legislation, while identifying those areas where operational or technical improvements can be made during any audit of our safety and environmental processes,” Callaghan continued.

“All this ensures we are more aware than ever of legislation and its impact, and comprehensively armed with the advice that’s correct and can be applied on a daily basis.”
