Investment in company will help create "polymer hub" in South West

Devon-based machinery supplier, South West Polymer Supplies, has announced plans to expand after securing investment from the Torbay Growth Fund.

The business, which supplies plastic and rubber processing equipment from laboratory to full-scale manufacturing, has now moved to an office within Torquay’s Innovation Centre in order to grow.

“I want to make Torbay more of a plastics hub. I plan to open a showroom in Torbay which will help marry everyone together [and] people will be able to come and have trials on the machinery,” explained Mike Thomson, Founder of South West Polymer Supplies.

Thompson has been running the company for three years, alongside a business engagement role at Exeter University.  The company offers expertise in importing plastics machinery, material developments for extrusion and injection moulding, as well as moulding and manufacture. It also plans to work with local companies to develop new materials and testing.

“I've received funding from the Torbay Growth Fund which is brilliant and it will help me to create skilled jobs over the next three years,” Thompson added.
