Jonathan Short announces departure from ECO Plastics

Jonathan Short, the Founder and Deputy Chairman of Lincolnshire-based reprocessor, ECO Plastics, has announced his departure from the company.

The news comes just a few months after European investor, Aurelius Group, acquired the firm in December 2014 (reported here). 

“I have decided to step down from my role at ECO Plastics to pursue new projects,” Short said in a statement. “The time is right to move on to pastures new. ECO Plastics has accomplished a great deal since its humble beginnings and I would like to thank all of my colleagues within the Company and the industry for their support over the years.”

Since founding the company as ECO Plastics in 2000, Short has become a vocal and respected figure in the UK plastics recycling industry.

ECO Plastics’ Hemswell-based reprocessing plant is one of the UK’s leading recyclers and is capable of sorting 150,000 tonnes of mixed bottles per annum, representing around 35 percent of the total UK bottle collection every year.

When Aurelius acquired the Company last year, Tristan Nagler, Managing Director of the Group in London, said it was “delighted to have acquired ECO Plastics,” and that it was “committed to working with the Company to deliver long term, sustainable growth.”
