Manufacturing facility sees £1.7m investment

Producer of plastic and composite tanks, Forbes Technologies Ltd, has invested £1.7 million in a new production facility at its Kelso, Scotland, site.

The new facility, which the company says has been built in response to an increased demand for its products, was officially opened on 6th August by the Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore.

The facility will enable the automated production of tanks and towers up to four metres diameter and up to 100,000 litres in thermoplastic. Forbes says it has already received an order of six of the new tanks from electronics firm NXP Semiconductors, based in Manchester.

“I was pleased to be able to open the new facility at Forbes today which will enable the firm to remain at the cutting edge of the plastics industry,” commented Moore during his visit.

“The new facility will boost production and ensure that the company can respond to the increased demand for their products while continuing to provide secure, highly skilled jobs for local people.”
