Plastic injection moulder strengthens growth plans with non-exec director

A UK-based plastic injection moulding company has announced the appointment of its first non-executive director as it embarks on its next phase of expansion.

MGS Technical Plastics, based in Blackburn, has appointed Glenn Cooper to the role as the company aims to increase annual turnover from £4m to £10m within five years.

MGS has a strong record of investment and growth in recent years, including a £2m relocation from Bolton to its current home, as well as a series of appointments throughout a number of departments.

"We have enjoyed great success with our expansion plans so far, but each time we set our sights higher, we enter into unchartered territory,” commented MGS’ Owner, John Sturgess.

"Glenn is an experienced business owner and advisor with a string of successes under his belt. His knowledge and expertise will play a crucial role in guiding us through the next stage of our development and we are very excited to welcome him to our team." 

As well as an advisor to the Prime Minister, Cooper is also president of ATG Access, a loss-making company when he joined in 2001 which now registers sales of £16.7m across the world.

He was previously Managing Director of Industrial Control Services, which he took onto the London Stock Exchange and saw sales rise above $100m. He has been recognised by The Sunday Times and the Institute of Directors for his entrepreneurship and business success.

As a non-executive of MGS, his role will reportedly include introducing new business procedures, improving business plans, improving staff engagement and helping to form additional KPI measures that will monitor performance to a plan.
