Plazology puts moulding in the Mersey

Technical consultancy for injection moulders, Plazology, has expanded from its headquarters in Leeds to new premises in Liverpool in order to support its increasing volume of work in the region.

The new facility will concentrate its resources primarily on Plazology’s moulding simulation work using Moldex3D simulation software, which the company uses to create genuine production scenarios virtually, allowing the analysis of potential issues such as filling, packing, cooling and warping.

“I am very excited about this next step in our development,” explained Shaun Mollon, Plazology’s Director. “Moldex3D is a process which our customers are finding invaluable to their design and production. In today’s plastic product market there is an ever-increasing need to produce products for less cost, in less time and with less waste. We are confident that Moldex3D addresses these issues.”

Realistic simulations provide in depth product information and allow Plazology to accurately assess possible concerns including potential design faults. These include weld lines, short shots and air traps.

An increasing number of leading plastics processors and OEMs in a wide range of markets such as packaging, automotive and medical are implementing the use of Moldex3D, according to Mollon, who says the software is providing them with the huge competitive advantage of improving quality by ensuring better design characteristics before production begins. Not only does this guarantee a better product, he added, but it does so rapidly and saves money spent on lengthy pre-production test runs, hence providing a maximum return on investment.
