PolyOne increases brand protection in Asia

At a pre-Chinaplas press event, PolyOne has announced it is launching its latest authentication and anti-counterfeiting solutions to the Asian market at the 2014 show.

The 'Percept' technologies, which were launched to the North American and European markets late last year, consist of a portfolio of formulations and consultative services that employ covert, overt and forensic techniques designed to assist manufacturers in protecting their brands from inferior counterfeit goods.

"More companies today are choosing to manufacture high-end brands in Asia, so the need to protect their brands increases, especially in the areas of consumer goods, medical devices, packaging and the consumer electronic markets," commented Mark Crist, Vice President, PolyOne Asia, at the event. "Our Percept solutions allow manufacturers to positively identify legitimate products and maintain quality levels for the products that receive positive identification."

PolyOne says the Percept spectrum of technologies can be tailored to a wide variety of polymers, processing conditions and end-use applications. Expanding, PolyOne said at the pre-show event that the major application area for the Percept technology in China would be in the area of pharmaceutical packaging. "We have a machine which has the technical capability to detect certain components in materials and will make a sound upon detection of these," explained Say Eng Lee, General Manager, PolyOne Colour and Additives Asia.

"Our advanced solutions can help companies protect brand integrity whilst minimising revenue loss or claims resulting from inferior counterfeit goods."
