PVC manufacturer announces ‘Booming’ business during Boris Johnson visit

A Northern Irish manufacturer of extruded PVC products announced a major overseas expansion yesterday to coincide with a visit from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson MP.

Boomer Industries Ltd, which manufactures specialist plastic extrusions across a number of industrial sectors, has opened a new facility in southeast India to support its growth in the region.

“It is a hugely significant development by Boomer after what has been a remarkably good trading year,” commented Managing Director, Andrew Robinson, who briefed Mr Johnson on the company’s expansion.

The opening of the new plant will enable the firm to supply its products on a regional basis to fellow Northern Ireland-based OEM, Wrightbus, which has a major manufacturing plant in India for coaches and buses.

“Not only will this enable us to support Wrightbus in India, but will also allow Boomer to exploit fresh opportunities for its products and services as well as develop and strengthen our business links within the Asian and Middle East markets,” continued Robinson.

Earlier in the day the London Mayor, who was accompanied by Northern Ireland Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers and Mike Brown, the London Transport Commissioner, had visited Wrightbus, where he confirmed an order for an additional 195 ‘Routemaster’ model buses for Transport for London.

“Throughout that period they have played a significant supporting role, especially in the development of the Routemaster, and we are delighted the company has established a manufacturing facility in India.  Not only will it support us, but it will also provide a vital part of their international expansion plans.”
