Resin Trade changes its name and makes advances into Europe

As of April 1, 2015, UK distributor Resin Trade Ltd has changed its name and is now known as Polydist (UK) Ltd.

According to industry veteran and CEO, Richard Bradwell, who was also the founder of UK distribution business Plastribution in 1979, “the new identity better reflects our broadening product and customer portfolios which now include many engineering polymers, compounds, additives and colour concentrates.”

The name change coincides with the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary called Polydist (Benelux) BV, who have acquired the assets of Dutch polymer distributors Merco Polymers BV. The new Benelux business demonstrates the group’s strategy to further strengthen its presence in Europe.

Merco have been Benelux distributors for Brazilian polymer major, Braskem, since 2008 and the new agreement reportedly reflects Braskem’s eagerness to increase the business further with the Polydist Group.

Braskem Europe Distribution Manager, Roddy Gierman said: Braskem would like to congratulate all at Polydist on their new venture in Benelux. We are confident that this move will enable us to continue to grow together and develop our already close relationship with the new group, following many years of partnership with Resin Trade.”

Bradwell also suggested that further announcements would be made soon on additional territories and exciting new supply agreements.

“In recent months we have added a number of experienced commercial and technical staff in UK to develop the expanded product range and will open the ‘Polydist Academy’ later this year, which will initially recruit two school leavers in 2015 and offer them structured internal and external training / career opportunities,” he added. “We have also recruited an additional experienced technical sales person to manage sales of additives and color concentrates in the Benelux office.”

Bradwell says he highly values the level of service the business offers its trading partners, with next-day deliveries, bulk tankers down to one bag, technical support and a planned “e-commerce/product tracking” facility coming soon across the group.
