Rotomoulded garden planter ‘beds’ first place at SPE awards

The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Rotational Moulding Division has announced the professional and student winners in its ‘Product Design’ Competition.

The winning professional design was by Jamie Wirkler for rotationally moulded garden beds for use in learning gardens in schools and communities that can withstand the same use as playground equipment while serving as attractive containers for food production.

The second place design was for a pirate bed, designed by the Director of Product Development, Tom Fish, at global toy producer and merchandiser, Little Tikes.

In the student category, Kyle Anderson from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design took first place for iCoustics, a product he designed to amplify the sound of an iPhone.

The winners will be honoured with their awards at the SPE Rotational Molding TopCon conference, held June 1-4, 2014.
