Summer school looking for new recruits

by

A summer school for students or those interested in product innovation is still advertising places, with a bursary offered to those who apply before Sunday (June 2).

The InnoMatNet Summer School 2013 takes place between July 3 and 5 at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and New Designers.

The school is free to attend, including catering, and limited bursaries are available those who apply before Sunday, June 2.

While spaces are filling up, there are still some available, giving the chance for a candidate to join 30 peers from across Europe in learning about and testing fresh ways of developing products which improve peoples’ lives.

Activities include workshops in user needs analysis, pitching to investors, materials selection, 3D model making and more.

Clare Johnston, Head of Textiles at the Royal College of Art, Gareth Jones, product designer and Royal Academy of Engineering Professor are just two of the materials experts in attendance at the summer school.

It is open to undergraduates and postgraduates studying product design, textiles, architecture, innovation, materials science, engineering or other relevant courses at UK- or EU-based colleges and universities.

Applications are also welcome from young designers, architects, materials scientists and engineers who have been working professionally since graduating between 2009 and 2012.
