XL investment programme for Matrix and BOY

Matrix Plastics and BOY Limited have announced a major new investment programme aimed at improving its service to customers, particularly in the automotive industry.

Slough-based producer of colour compounds and masterbatches, Matrix, has purchased a new, larger BOY 80T moulding machine in response to demand from customers in the automotive industry for extra large test plaques.

It says the extra large plaque will give designers a more realistic idea on how a vehicle component would look in a specific polymer and colour.

In addition, Matrix is undergoing a machinery replacement programme for five ‘22A’ BOY machines, which will produce a variety of standard size plaques for a number of other plastics industry sectors.

The investment in the BOY injection moulding machines compliments Matrix’ substantial investment in a new, state-of-the-art Leistritz Extruder made in May this year.

The machines are being commissioned after PDM and the automotive ‘XL’ is expected in October or November 2015.
