All-electric machines become popular choice after Interplas launch

Ferromatik Milacron says its ELEKTRON Series of all-electric injection moulding machines is becoming a popular choice with moulders following the result of extensive development focusing on energy saving and noise reduction. 

The company recently introduced its latest version of the ELEKTRON machine at Interplas, UK, where its claims to use up to 60 percent less energy appealed to those looking for a machine for both general and clean room applications.

“The ELEKTRON offers parallel movements as standard and considerable power saving is achieved due to the design and precise positioning of the ejector using an electromechanical drive system,” explained Paul Crookes, Technical Director of Ferromatik UK. “The five-point clamp toggle system is power and acceleration optimised, reducing unnecessary power consumption. In addition, the servo-driven axes provide high stroke precision - ideal for the production of high-precision parts for medical and pharmaceutical applications.”

Other machine benefits, says Ferromatik, include automatic lubrication and reduced water consumption in comparison to similar tonnage machines. The ELEKTRON series also uses ENDURA touch controls, for use with both operation and data capture, as well as for programming and use of peripheral equipment.

Last year, Ferromatik’s development of the ELEKTRON resulted in it winning the iF Product Design Award, beating some 3,200 entries. Commenting, Crookes said: “Stringent criteria including innovation, functionality, environmental considerations and value to customers were set out, which the Elektron surpassed. The iF Award endorses the ELEKTRON Series as leader in its class.”
