Engel launches second brand of injection moulding machines

Engel has launched its second brand of injection moulding machines, specifically for the Chinese and Asian markets, at Chinaplas 2014.

Engel, exhibiting alongside its newly established, 100 percent owned subsidiary, Wintec, for the first time at the show, announced the launch of 't-win', a new range of reduced specification, Wintec-branded injection moulding machines. 

"Our goal for Wintec is to appeal to processors looking for relatively standardised machines with a limited range of options," said Peter Neumann, Engel Austria CEO at the company's press event. "This strategic decision allows us to open up a new target group for Engel and strengthen our foothold at the same time."

The new t-win machines are said to have a reduced modularity and smaller range of options and  focus on maximum productivity, lowest possible energy consumption and a compact design for the production of commodity products at a competitive price, although the company declined to give an indication of the exact cost. 

"The productivity and energy efficiency requirements of commodity manufacturers in Asia have increased hugely over the last few years," explained Peter Auinger, the CEO of Wintec. "The t-win model range perfectly meets these requirements and thus offers optimum asset health for our customers."

Engel says the t-win machines achieve a service life of 15 to 20 years with comparatively low operating costs ensuring a reduced total cost of ownership and a fast ROI.

"Wintec means no compromise on the Engel quality standards," Auinger stressed at the press event. "It is absolutely high standard, just with standardised options." 

In terms of sourcing parts for the Wintec machines, Engel said that it does try to localise the production of the parts for the Wintec machines, with the exception of certain ones such as the control unit. It also said that the machine was designed for China as the core target market, but it will roll out sales of the machine to commodity manufacturers in Southeast Asia, Korea, Taiwan and India. 

"Chinaplas is an exciting show for us as sales of the Wintec machines will start from the opening day of the show," Auinger concluded.
