K2013: PU machines journey from the Peak District to Düsseldorf

A new range of UK-manufactured machines for the processing of polyurethane foam and elastomers are being officially launched at the ‘British Pavilion’ at K 2013.

AutoRIM, based in Derbyshire in the Peak District, says the new ‘Rim-Mix’ standard low pressure polyurethane foam and elastomer units were manufactured after research identified that processors prefer a ‘local’ machine which is operator friendly, available on short lead time, reliable with excellent local technical and process support, as well as being attractively priced. 

AutoRIM’s Development Engineers, pioneers of designs including GSPU large output low pressure mixing machines with hollow sphere incorporation for deep sea oil and gas extraction, sand filled elastomers for electrical encapsulation, and epoxy resin for offshore buoyancy, took the research forward and produced a new range of designs which incorporate an ECOmode for reduced energy consumption and the dynamic D-series mix head for improved foam mixing and quality.

Discussions were held with local engineering suppliers and the majority of Rim-Mix components are now manufactured and sourced within 50 miles of AutoRIM in Derbyshire. AutoRIM says the benefits of batch-building machines in the UK are far reachng across the Peak District, creating local production clusters improving turn round time and reducing cost.  

The new range of machines has been awarded the ‘Made in Britain’ marque, for their design and manufacture in the UK. AutoRIM are encouraged and supported by UKTI who have provided a series of worldwide introductions for the British built Rim-Mix.
