Secure high temperature connections for moulding and casting launched

by

Stäubli Connectors has introduced a range of secure high temperature couplings that ensure the safe control of fluids, in response to manufacturers increasingly using higher temperatures in their moulding and casting processes.

Stӓubli’s new HTI mono couplings and HTM multi-couplings have been specifically designed for temperature control up to 300°C. They provide safe and quick mould changeovers and the design features double shut off technology with no internal seal and metal to metal tightness; the technology behind the ability to withstand high temperatures.

The company says the multi coupling version can accommodate six circuits, i.e. 12 couplings, all of which can be connected simultaneously in one single action. Maintenance is reduced since the couplings do not have a seal in the fluid stream, a single ‘O’ ring on the outside of each coupling can be changed on-site in a few seconds causing minimal interruption to the production cycle.

The multi-coupling can only be connected in one position eliminating any risk of inverting the circuit connections and automatic shut-off on disconnection ensures the safety of operators and equipment.

In applications where several multi coupling plates are used on the same machine Stäubli provides a mechanical interlock kit preventing any connection error. A parking plate is also available for storing the disconnected plate, minimising workspace requirements and the risk of damage.

Mono couplings (HTI) have a robust double-action locking system with an initial quick push and turn bayonet system being supplemented by two safety locking levers fastening the bayonet for additional security.
