SGH Moulds increases capacity and performance with two new Billion machines

A Bolton-based mould maker has recently invested in two new all-electric injection moulding machines from Billion UK in order to equip its recent site expansion and says it is “delighted” by the performance efficiency of the machines.

SGH Moulds, an established provider of tooling and moulding services, purchased an initial 350T Billion Select all-electric injection moulding machine, equipped with Sepro’s ‘Success’ line of full CNC robots, in order to provide the most efficient and cost effective moulding service to its customers in the automotive, medical and industrial market sectors.

After installation of the machine and equipment as part of its new £1.5 million moulding plant and warehouse facility, SGH says it was “delighted” with its performance, which led to the company ordering a second, identical model, which was delivered last week.

“Since installation of the first 350T, SGH have seen clear benefits in the moulding precision offered by the machine for technical parts and the outstanding energy efficiency of the machine, which has contributed strongly to its ROI,” commented Peter Kirkham, Managing Director of Billion UK.

“The addition of the SEPRO robot allows SGH MOULDS to run with minimal staff and ensures a reliable constant productivity from the manufacturing cell.”

Recent tests carried out by Billion UK revealed power consumption on the 350T machine and robot to be less than 10kWh running a typical automotive application.
