Stäubli launches new electrical connectors for IMMs

by

Stäubli has launched a new range of electrical connectors specifically designed for use on injection moulding machines for temperature control, measurements and operational controls.

The range comes as the company expands its existing portfolio of quick release connectors for hydraulic and fluid circuits used on moulding machines for temperature control and mechanical activation.

Stäubli says the new REP range offers easy to use, fast and reliable connections for electrical circuits, eliminating any connection error and ensuring a safe and secure connection.

All connections for control, power and thermocouples can be centralised onto one plate; the range includes very compact models comprising 2 connectors that can handle up to 74 contacts in just one movement, right, up to the 4-connector option that handles 148 connections. Plates are available in two different configurations with either the power supply on the mobile side or fixed plate side as required.

The connectors incorporate Multilam technology from Stäubli Group company, Multi-Contact. This ensures a high quality robust connection, which it says is particularly suited for work in applications subject to vibration or thermal cycling. A wide choice of electrical connections are available, with 6 types of inserts providing from 2 to 36 contacts plus earthing, with silver or gold contacts that be can either crimped or soldered.

Stäubli  says precision guiding makes connection easier and increases contact life ensuring that the system will work reliably over numerous connection cycles.

Additional equipment includes parking plates, protective caps, foolproof keying and carrying handles.

Safety is guaranteed, says Stäubli, with connection only possible in one position. Security is reinforced by indexing identification on both the housing and inserts. All housings are fully protected against dust and liquid splashes, achieving a rating of IP 67 when connected.
