DuPont increases EU capacity for Nylon by 20 percent

DuPont Performance Polymers has increased its production capacity for Nylon at its German facility by 20 percent.

The increase, it says, comes from the need to meet growing demand, primarily in the automotive sector.

“Nylon continues to be the starting point for many product designers because it’s versatile, easy to mould and offers exceptional long-term performance in the most challenging environments,” said Richard Mayo, Global Business Director for the nylon businesses in DuPont Performance Polymers.

“In many ways, nylon defined the category of Engineering Polymers and continues to redefine where plastics can go in the future.”

The company's ‘Zytel’ range of PA66 and PA6 is increasingly used for lightweighting applications in the automotive industry, as well as in electrical and electronic systems in products such as housings, enclosures, sockets and switches.

The German manufacturing facility in Hamm is DuPont’s largest nylon production facility in Europe.
