Environmentally friendly toilet system uses antimicrobials to flush away the competition

by

A toilet system designed to reduce water consumption through a unique flush system as well as increase hygiene has received an extra level of protection through the use of antimicrobial additives.

The revolutionary ‘Propelair’ 1.5l flush toilet, which claims to offer return on investment in as little as 1-3 years through the savings made on water bills, now features antimicrobial protection from UK-based Steritouch in its nylon latch.

This ensures that the system is suitable even for washrooms with the most exacting standards of hygiene, including those in healthcare settings.

During development, SteriTouch established a proprietary stabilisation system for Propelair’s particular nylon grade from its base in South Wales, in order to avoid the problems that can occur when using silver-based additives with certain polymers.

Gaining traction

Propelair is already gaining traction within the healthcare sector, with installations currently in place at a number of hospitals and NHS Trusts, including the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Southend Hospital and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Trust.

The system was recently chosen to replace water-efficient units in all the washrooms at Thames Water’s headquarters in Reading and across its other sites.
