Hairdresser has a ‘brush’ with antimicrobials

A celebrity hairdresser has launched a new hairbrush that has antimicrobial additives embedded in the plastic.

Richard Ward says he chose to incorporate the Biomaster additives from UK-based Addmaster in the ‘Tangle Angel’, in order to make it more hygienic and prevent bacteria from living on the brush.

Biomaster antimicrobial technology is a range of unique formulations blended specifically for each end application and Addmaster says it has been proven to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria including MRSA, E.coli and salmonella by more than 99.99 percent.

The active ingredient in Biomaster is silver, a natural antimicrobial that has been used for centuries to prevent the growth of bacteria. Added during manufacture, Biomaster becomes an integral part so it can’t leak out or wash off providing antimicrobial protection for the intended lifetime of the Tangle Angel.

“Brushes can collect hair, dead skin and residues of hair products which can become sticky and attract dirt,” commented Ward. “I wanted to create a brush that not only detangles… but has an added benefit through the added antibacterial agent, which acts as a great defence.”
