Kraiburg’s latest TPE range enters full-scale production

Kraiburg TPE has announced it has entered full-scale production with its latest series of advanced TPE compounds.

The Thermolast V portfolio of products is aimed at high-end applications in the automotive industry, where Thermoplastic Elastomers must have excellent mechanical stability when exposed to high temperatures under the hood.

The series, that is used for example in seals for timing belt covers and cable grommets, has an increased hardness spectrum, from 50 to 80 Shore A, and features excellent heat resistance, an improved compression set and good adhesion to polyamides.

“Polyamide is an important and critical construction material, which is why we have expanded and improved our portfolio to include heat-resistant TPEs with adhesion to polyamide,” Dr. Martin Geissinger, Product Manager EMEA at KRAIBURG TPE explained.

The company will showcase its Thermolast V series at the upcoming VDI automotive conference in Mannheim, Germany, in March 2016.
