Berry's circular design capabilities create high-performance recycled film

Berry bpi packaging solutions has achieved a significant technical breakthrough with the ability to incorporate up to 50 per cent recycled content into its market-leading NorDiVent form, fill and seal (FFS) film without any compromise in overall strength and moisture protection performance.

The film can now be manufactured using Berry’s Sustane recycled polymer produced from a combination of post-industrial and post-consumer recycled plastic to achieve a standard of material comparable to virgin polymer.

This enhancement has been achieved while maintaining NorDiVent’s many user benefits. The film provides a reliable long-term dust-free and moisture-free solution for the filling and packing of all types of powdered products, including chemicals and construction, while food-safe blends are also available for food applications.

NorDiVent’s durable construction delivers a consistently reliable performance. The film is fully waterproof and ensures air is released in a dust-free way, offering effective moisture protection and outdoor storage capabilities. Its high tear resistance provides further product protection and avoids spillages and product waste throughout the supply chain. A variety of options, including anti-static, enable the film to cope with the most challenging applications and products.

The quality of the film also enables printing in up to 10 colours.

Frank Heseding of Berry bpi packaging solutions said: “This is an important development that underlines our technical capabilities. Effective product protection which helps to minimise unnecessary waste and lightweight packaging that reduces the impact of transportation are in themselves important sustainability benefits, but the incorporation of recycled content with no performance disadvantage is another significant achievement in our continuing drive to develop solutions that support our customers’ sustainability goals.”
