Protect your presents with polycarbonate

Bayer MaterialScience is advising the use of polycarbonate to protect presents this Christmas, as the festive season brings with it the heightened risk of domestic burglaries.

Specifically, the company says that surveillance devices, such as motion sensors and security cameras, that are in high demand at this time of year, are best suited to being produced from polycarbonate, due to it showing exactly the necessary properties needed.

"Motion sensors and surveillance equipment needs to be tough, durable, flame and vandal retardant and blend seamlessly into the environment they are being used in", says Roger Lian, Marketing Expert at the Polycarbonates business of Bayer MaterialScience.

According to Bayer, a recent report highlighted that the global video surveillance market is set to grow to almost $40 billion in 2015, with authorities and government agencies as well as the retail, banking, education and transportation sectors using such devices alongside domestic homes.
