Travel seat weight reduction is child’s play thanks to ARPRO

An award-winning car seat for babies has achieved a 30 percent weight saving thanks to the use of an expanded polypropylene bead foam material in the design.

The ‘Ultralite’ model from car seat manufacturer, Avionaut, is manufactured using ARPRO material from JSP, which is both lightweight and food safe.

This 30 percent reduction in weight compared with Avionaut’s previous car seat model, which weighed 3.5kg, eases the task for parents’ lifting the Ultralite into position.

The seat is designed for use for infants weighing up to 13 kg and between 45 – 86 cm in height, aged approximately between 0 to 15 months.

“As we worked with Avionaut to develop the Ultralite car seat, we were conscious throughout of our remit to make every aspect of the design count,” explained Bert Suffis, an ARPRO innovation manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Each gram saved in the process means better performance and improved safety via higher shock absorption performance. The end result is a lightweight, safe and easy-to-handle car seat.”
