TSRC announces new SIS plant now in operation

TSRC Corporation, a global synthetic rubber producer, has announced that a new, 25,000 tonne plant producing its styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) block copolymer is now online in Nantong, China, in a move it says will serve growing demand in the Asia Pacific regions.

The company says the announcement at Chinaplas marks a milestone for the company in its strategy of combining technologies in order to offer more differentiated and high value-added products to its customers in the international rubber market.

"As one of the largest SBC producers in the world we are quickly expanding our global supply chain throughout the Asia-Pacific region," said Christopher Mudd, TSRC's President/General Manager.

The company's SIS block copolymers, marketed as Vector, are said to possess a high level of purity, consistency and performance not found in conventional SBCs. The SIS and SBC-based products are used in a wide range of applications, from polymer modification, photopolymer plates and specialty applications to adhesives, elastic film and more.

"The new Nantong plant will reportedly allow Asian customers greater access to this starte-of-the-art polymer, which allows them to optimise their adhesives formulations, produce consistent, high-performing elastic films and participate in the global market," said the company.

The company also announced it is planning further expansion with an additional new plant in Taiwan in 2016 for the production of SIS.
