THE UK’s largest custom masterbatch producer has confirmed the purchase of a new twin-screw extruder.

Wrexham-based company Silvergate Plastics has added the Leistritz Twin-Screw Extruder ZSE 27 Maxx to its portfolio of production capabilities.

Tony Bestall, Managing Director said: “With 25% of our orders being produced on the same day they are received, investing in technology is key to our success.”

“Our customers expect the best product delivered in the fastest possible time. Our investment in equipment gives higher output and flexibility, allowing us to achieve this and more,” he added.

The machine has high torque and high volume co-rotating twin-screws, bringing a reported increase in efficiency and thoroughput of up to 50%.

It also claims to have a lower average shear rate and lower melt temperatures, while processing a wide range of polymer, pigment systems and additives.
