SABIC’s UK site receives ‘Top Employer’ award

SABIC has received the ‘Top Employer Award 2016’ for its good HR practices in employee development in the UK.

This is the third consecutive year that the UK arm of the Saudi-based petrochemicals company, based in Teeside, North East England, has received the award from the Top Employers Institute, which recognises employers based on criteria such as the extent of primary benefits, the quality of working conditions, the level of professional development offered, opportunities for career development and culture management.

“We are very pleased with this accreditation as it recognises SABIC as a good employer with excellent HR processes and practices, already three years in a row. We are a global company with ambitious growth plans and our employees are crucial. Good HR management, based on a long-term vision is key to attract and retain good people,” commented Eduardo Perez-Cejuela, Sr HR Director for Europe at SABIC.

“This award affirms that SABIC is a good employer —not just in the United Kingdom and other European countries, but also in other regions, such as Asia-Pacific, where we have received the award for a number of consecutive years.”

John Bruijnooge, SABIC Site Director in Wilton, Teeside, commented: “SABIC is already recognised as a leading employer in the Teesside area with a world class reputation for innovation and industrial excellence.

“To continue with our journey into the future, it is vital that we continue to treat our people fairly, invest in our employees, and foster and develop the talent of tomorrow. This fits alongside our global ambition to be the preferred world leader in chemicals by 2025. We have always believed that it takes special people to make a difference, so we create the conditions for their talent to flourish. We are grateful for this recognition that we are on the right path in all aspects of employee management and people development.”

Along with the UK, SABIC is also in contention for the ‘Top Employer’ accreditation in the Netherlands for the 10th time, as well as four other European countries (Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany).
