Wood you believe it – mirrored Perspex shed scoops prize

by

A shed made ‘invisible’ using mirror-effect Perspex won first prize in the ‘Shed of the Year’ competition at this year’s RHS Tatton Flower Show.

The idea for the shed came from Manchester School of Art, who commissioned signage and point of sale specialists, Floreeda Fabrications, to construct it.

Using Plaskolite acrylic mirror supplied by Perspex Distribution, Floreeda took on the challenge to transform a plain garden shed into a hideaway that "reflects nature's surroundings".

“It’s certainly not the sort of thing you would expect in the middle of a garden show. An invisible shed makes the perfect secret place to escape the world,” commented Manchester School of Art Outreach Manager, Clare Knox-Bentham, who thought up the original concept.

Paul Jones, Director of Floreeda, added: “We are delighted to win and we really enjoy producing work for Manchester Metropolitan University’s School of Art and their students.  We are used to being asked to create the weird and wonderful and this project was no exception.”
